Bóquer Valley is a paradise for birds in the Serra de Tramuntana UNESCO World Heritage Site; here we can see the Booted eagle, Blue rock thrush, Cinereous vulture, Sardinian warbler, Peregrine, Eleonora’s falcon and one of the jewels of Mallorca’s bird fauna, the endemic Balearic warbler (Sylvia balearica), as well as hundreds of migrants in spring and autumn.
The tour: we walk into the secluded Bóquer valley in the Serra de Tramuntana, just behind Port de Pollença. Mediterranean scrub (garrigue) is the dominant vegetation (with some endemic plants). The route is about 5 km and is very gentle, unless you wish to descend to the sea.
Duration: half day. This tour can be combined with Formentor peninsula to make a one day tour.
Practical recommendations: in spring, autumn and winter bring your raincoat and waterproof walking/trekking shoes. At the end of spring and in summer a hat and sun protection are highly recommended. And of course, do not forget your binoculars, telescope and camera. Remember to bring enough water and your lunch.
